Purpose and Scope
This document defines the copyright and licensing framework applicable to scholarly articles published in the International Interdisciplinary Scientific Journal “Expert”.
It establishes the principles governing copyright ownership, the rights granted to the Publisher, the Creative Commons licence applied to published articles, reuse and redistribution, translations and adaptations, repository distribution, third-party material, permissions, and related author responsibilities.
These provisions operate together with the Journal’s Open Access Policy, Publication Conditions, Publication Ethics, and other applicable editorial and publishing policies.
1. Copyright Ownership
Authors retain copyright in their published articles.
Publication in the Journal does not transfer copyright ownership from the author(s) to the Journal, the Editorial Board, or the Publisher.
Authors remain the copyright holders of their scholarly work, subject to:
- any rights of third parties in material incorporated into the article;
- the non-exclusive publishing licence granted to the Publisher upon Final Editorial Acceptance;
- the Creative Commons licence under which the published Version of Record is made available.
2. Rights Granted to the Publisher
If and when a manuscript receives Final Editorial Acceptance, the author(s) grant ASPECT-PRO LTD, as the Publisher of the International Interdisciplinary Scientific Journal “Expert”, a non-exclusive publishing licence necessary to:
- publish the accepted work as the Version of Record;
- identify the International Interdisciplinary Scientific Journal “Expert” as the original place of publication;
- reproduce and distribute the published article;
- make the article openly available through the Journal website and Archives;
- disseminate the article through scholarly databases, indexing services, repositories, discovery services, and other appropriate publication channels;
- prepare, register, maintain, and disseminate bibliographic and publication metadata, including DOI-related metadata;
- preserve and maintain access to the published scholarly record.
The non-exclusive publishing licence becomes effective only if and when the manuscript receives Final Editorial Acceptance for publication.
If the manuscript does not receive Final Editorial Acceptance, the publishing licence does not become effective.
The granting of this licence does not transfer copyright ownership from the author(s) to ASPECT-PRO LTD, the Journal, or the Editorial Board.
The Publisher’s publication, distribution, metadata, dissemination, and preservation functions are separate from scholarly editorial evaluation, peer review, and editorial decision-making.
3. Final Editorial Acceptance
For the purposes of these Copyright and Licensing provisions, Final Editorial Acceptance means the final editorial decision to Accept a manuscript for publication.
The Journal’s final editorial decision on a manuscript may be:
- Accept;
- Revise;
- Reject.
Except where the Editor-in-Chief has a relevant conflict of interest, the final decision to accept, request revision of, or reject a manuscript is made by the Editor-in-Chief.
Final Editorial Acceptance therefore refers specifically to an Accept decision and does not include a decision to Revise or Reject.
Where the Editor-in-Chief has a relevant conflict of interest, decision-making authority is transferred in accordance with the Journal’s applicable Editorial Policies.
The copyright and publishing arrangements described in this document do not determine the outcome of the editorial decision.
4. Creative Commons Licensing
Published articles are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License.
Under CC BY 4.0, users may share, copy, redistribute, adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the licensed material for lawful purposes, including commercial purposes, subject to the conditions of the licence.
The applicable Creative Commons licence is identified on the published article and/or its publication page.
Publication under CC BY 4.0 does not transfer copyright ownership from the author(s).
The licence applies to the published scholarly material to the extent that the author(s) or other applicable rights holder is legally entitled to license that material under CC BY 4.0.
5. Reuse by Authors and Other Users
Authors may reuse, share, redistribute, and incorporate their published article, in whole or in part, into subsequent scholarly, educational, professional, or academic work in accordance with the CC BY 4.0 licence and applicable attribution requirements.
No additional permission from the Journal, Editorial Board, or Publisher is required for uses already permitted by CC BY 4.0.
The same reuse rights apply to other users of the licensed material, subject to the terms of the applicable licence.
6. Attribution and Identification of the Original Publication
Reuse of material published under CC BY 4.0 must provide appropriate attribution.
As applicable under the licence, attribution should identify:
- the author(s);
- the title of the work;
- the original publication in the International Interdisciplinary Scientific Journal “Expert”;
- the DOI or other persistent link to the published article;
- the applicable CC BY 4.0 licence;
- whether changes have been made.
Attribution must not imply that the author(s), Journal, Editorial Board, or Publisher endorses a reuse, adaptation, product, service, organisation, or user unless such endorsement has expressly been provided.
7. Translations and Adaptations
Translations, adaptations, and other transformed versions of material published under CC BY 4.0 may be created and distributed in accordance with the conditions of the licence.
Where changes, translations, or adaptations have been made, this must be indicated as required by the licence.
A translation or adaptation produced independently of the Journal must not be represented as an official Journal version or as having been approved or endorsed by the Journal unless such approval or endorsement has expressly been provided.
Where the Journal itself prepares or publishes an authorised translated version, the relationship between that version and the original Version of Record should be clearly identified.
8. Repository Distribution and Scholarly Sharing
The published Version of Record may be shared and deposited in institutional, subject, disciplinary, or other scholarly repositories in accordance with the CC BY 4.0 licence.
Appropriate attribution to the original publication must be retained, and the DOI or other persistent link to the Version of Record should be provided.
Repository distribution does not alter the status of the Journal-published article as the Version of Record.
This provision concerns the published Version of Record and does not, by itself, establish separate rules for unpublished manuscripts, preprints, accepted manuscripts, or other manuscript versions.
9. Third-Party Material and Permissions
Material included in an article that is owned by a third party is not automatically covered by the article’s CC BY 4.0 licence where separate copyright, licensing, permission, or other legal terms apply.
Such material must be clearly identified where necessary.
Authors are responsible for determining whether permission is required for the inclusion and publication of third-party material and for obtaining any necessary permission before publication.
Where third-party material is used under another licence, permission, or applicable legal exception, the relevant copyright or licensing information should be stated appropriately.
Users wishing to reuse third-party material that is excluded from the article’s CC BY 4.0 licence are responsible for obtaining any additional permission that may be required from the relevant rights holder.
10. Author Copyright Responsibilities
Authors are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary rights and authority to submit their work for publication and, if the manuscript receives Final Editorial Acceptance, to grant the non-exclusive publishing licence described in these provisions.
Authors must not knowingly include material that infringes the copyright or other applicable rights of third parties.
Where copyrighted third-party material is included, authors must provide appropriate attribution and obtain any legally required permissions.
Authors remain responsible for the accuracy of copyright, licensing, attribution, and permission information supplied in connection with their article.
Questions concerning originality, plagiarism, authorship, simultaneous submission, citation integrity, research misconduct, and other matters of scholarly ethics are governed separately by the Journal’s Publication Ethics, Publication Conditions, and related editorial policies.
11. Manuscript Submission Form
The Journal’s Manuscript Submission Form reflects the copyright and publishing framework established in these provisions.
By signing the applicable Manuscript Submission Form, the corresponding author confirms, on their own behalf and, where authorised, on behalf of all co-authors, that:
- the author(s) retain copyright in the submitted work;
- the non-exclusive publishing licence to ASPECT-PRO LTD becomes effective only if and when the manuscript receives Final Editorial Acceptance;
- the published Version of Record will be made available under CC BY 4.0;
- the author(s) have the necessary rights and permissions in relation to third-party material included in the manuscript;
- publication under this framework does not transfer copyright ownership from the author(s).
The Manuscript Submission Form forms part of the manuscript submission record.
12. Relationship with Open Access
The Journal operates under a Gold Open Access model.
Copyright ownership and the CC BY 4.0 licensing framework described here operate together with the Journal’s Open Access Policy.
The Open Access Policy defines the conditions of immediate reader access, absence of embargo, reader access charges, and the relationship between Article Processing Charges and editorial independence.
This Copyright and Licensing framework defines the legal and licensing conditions governing:
- copyright ownership;
- publishing rights;
- reuse and redistribution;
- attribution;
- translations and adaptations;
- repository distribution;
- third-party material;
- permissions.
13. Relationship with Editorial Decision-Making
Copyright, licensing, open access, and publishing arrangements do not determine scholarly evaluation or editorial outcomes.
The granting of a publishing licence, agreement to publication under CC BY 4.0, or completion of copyright-related declarations does not guarantee acceptance or publication.
Scholarly evaluation, reviewer selection, peer-review outcome, and final editorial decisions concerning acceptance, revision, or rejection are governed exclusively by the Journal’s applicable Editorial Policies, Peer Review Process, Publication Ethics, and Publication Conditions.
Except where the Editor-in-Chief has a relevant conflict of interest, the final decision to accept, request revision of, or reject a manuscript is made by the Editor-in-Chief.
The non-exclusive publishing licence granted to ASPECT-PRO LTD becomes effective only following Final Editorial Acceptance, meaning a final decision to Accept the manuscript for publication.
A decision to Revise does not activate the publishing licence.
A decision to Reject does not activate the publishing licence.
The Publisher does not acquire scholarly decision-making authority through the copyright or licensing arrangements described in this document.
14. Governance and Review
This document forms part of the Journal’s scholarly publishing framework.
ASPECT-PRO LTD, as Publisher, is responsible for the implementation of publication and licensing arrangements relating to the dissemination of published articles.
The Editorial Board remains responsible for scholarly and editorial matters within its established remit and does not acquire copyright in published articles by virtue of its editorial role.
These provisions are maintained in coordination with the Journal’s Open Access Policy, Publication Conditions, and applicable editorial and publishing policies.
They may be reviewed and updated where necessary to reflect changes in licensing practice, publishing arrangements, applicable legal requirements, or recognised scholarly publishing standards.
Substantive amendments are documented through the Journal’s applicable versioning and review process.
