Corrections, Retractions, Expressions of Concern and Article Removal Policy
Post-Publication Actions and Integrity of the Scholarly Record
The International Interdisciplinary Scientific Journal "Expert" is committed to maintaining the integrity, reliability, transparency, and long-term trustworthiness of the scholarly record. Where errors, ethical concerns, or confirmed cases of misconduct are identified in published material, the journal will take appropriate corrective action in accordance with recognized international publishing standards and editorial best practice. Post-publication actions may include corrections, addenda, expressions of concern, retractions, or article removal, depending on the nature, seriousness, and evidentiary basis of the issue identified. All such actions are undertaken in accordance with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and are intended to preserve the integrity of the publication record while ensuring that readers are informed clearly and transparently of any changes affecting published content. Erratum An erratum is issued to correct errors introduced during the production or publication process by the journal or publisher, including formatting mistakes, incorrect metadata, file processing errors, tables, figures, author details, or DOI information. Such corrections do not affect the scientific validity or conclusions of the article. The correction will be published as a separate notice and electronically linked to the original article. Corrigendum A corrigendum is published when authors identify errors in their published article that do not invalidate the results, interpretations, or overall conclusions of the work. The corrigendum will clearly describe the correction and will be permanently linked to the original article. Addendum An addendum may be published when additional information becomes available after publication and is necessary for the clarity, completeness, or proper interpretation of the research. An addendum does not alter the publication date of the Version of Record and will be linked to the original article. Addendum An addendum may be published when additional information becomes available after publication and is necessary for the clarity, completeness, or proper interpretation of the research. An addendum does not alter the publication date of the Version of Record and will be linked to the original article. Retraction An article will be retracted when its findings are found to be unreliable due to serious error, fabrication, falsification of data, plagiarism, unethical research practices, duplicate publication, inappropriate authorship, or other major breaches of publication ethics. Retraction notices will clearly state the reasons for the retraction and will remain permanently accessible. In order to preserve the scholarly record, the original article will normally remain online but will be clearly identified as retracted. Article Removal In exceptional circumstances, an article may be removed where required by law, court order, or where the content infringes legal rights, contains defamatory material, violates confidentiality, or poses a significant risk of harm. In such cases, the article text may be removed and replaced by a notice explaining the reason for the action, while preserving the bibliographic metadata and publication history to the extent possible. Procedure and Editorial Responsibility When concerns are raised about a published article, the editorial office and editorial board will assess the matter in accordance with the journal’s Publication Ethics, Editorial Policies, and applicable COPE guidance. Depending on the seriousness and evidentiary basis of the concern, the journal may:
request clarification from the author(s);
consult reviewers, editors, or external experts;
contact the relevant institution(s) or oversight body where appropriate;
issue a correction, addendum, expression of concern, retraction, or removal notice.
All decisions will be made with due regard to fairness, transparency, proportionality, and the protection of the scholarly record. Version of Record and Transparency The journal seeks to preserve the Version of Record wherever possible. Post-publication notices are intended to ensure transparency rather than obscure the publication history of the article. Any corrective or editorial notice issued by the journal will be:
clearly labelled;
linked to the original article;
publicly accessible;
dated and documented as part of the publication record.
Administrative Withdrawal Administrative withdrawal is distinct from post-publication editorial actions such as corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, and article removal. It is governed separately by the journal’s Administrative Article Withdrawal Policy and applies only to limited administrative circumstances unrelated to the scientific validity or integrity of the published research. In exceptional circumstances, an article may be withdrawn for administrative reasons where the authors fail to fulfill the payment obligations associated with the Article Processing Charge after acceptance of the manuscript. Such withdrawal is administrative in nature and does not relate to the scientific content, validity, or integrity of the research. Full details are available in the journal’s Administrative Article Withdrawal Policy.
